Led by Levi “Super L” Loblack, a seasoned musician, and former
Road March King - with his song "Body Slam", Super L also has a number
of awards to his name including “Best Male Vocalist of the Year (Dominica).
The group formed in 1996 with an aim to bring to the mainstream the uplifting
and energizing rhythms of Zouk, Kompa & Cadence-Lypso popular to the French-Creole
speaking Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique &
Haiti.
The original members included Paula Letang and Bruce Skerrit.
Since Levitasyon's inception, they have produced two CDs, and one single and
have had the opportunity to work with an impressive array of singers and musicians,
Lucy Hamlet, Hermina George & Ermithe Fertil, who have all work with them
during various live performances.
They have performed at numerous festivals, including the World Creole Music Festival on the Nature Island of Dominica, and opened for well known Kompa bands which include T-Vice & Carimi.
Their latest CD, whose title is still unamed, will be making its debut in early 2009. The album promises to bring to the forefront tracks that will entrice and garner wide cross-over appeal.
Levitasyon has many hit songs to their credit including songs like “Millo”,
“Chale”, and their first #1 song - Song For The Children.
Their song Mesaj An Boutey is an Urban Award nominated song, still dominating
radio airwaves around the world, with a music video that has had more than 60,000
hits! - A first for any Dominican group or artist.
